Perhaps you are like us and were crushed when the Tensnake shows in November of 2010 didn’t happen, the show on the 14th was cancelled and the one that was to make up for that on the 26th also had to called off. We was crest-fallen, discombobulated, and just plain, straight-up plum dejected by that state of affairs. However, luckily for us, the original promoters, Gun Club and Loudfarm persisted and the show will go on (again), this time on Friday April 15th at the Works.
Those of you who already know and love Tensnake’s (Marco Niemerski to his folks) music will be there with bells on and those who are aren’t so up on him should definitely come through. The German producer had been bubbling under since 2006, key releases like “Holding Back (My Love)” on the Running Back label and the classic “Coma Cat” on Permanent Vacation really brought him to the attention of clubbers and dance music acolytes globally in 2009 and 2010. Later in 2010 he gave us the slam dunk with Tensnake’s In The House compilation for Defected’s ITH imprint. Here he displayed his love for several strands of house, including classic ’90s NY gear, all manner of electro-house. some boogie-style disco and even Mount Kimbie’s twisted take on UK garage.
It was a fun, eclectic mix that showed his inventiveness as a dj and provided a key as to why his own productions sound the way they do. Well, on the Friday, April 15th we’ll get to catch him live for the first time in San Frandisco. Please come through, it should be a rather pleasant evening. The supporting djs on the bill include, Conor, Anthony Mansfield and the Beat Broker. There will also be a live set by the fantastic Marbeya Sound.
