On Friday, October 14th As You Like It come correct again with another sterling line up comprised of local and out-of-town talent. The night is in conjunction with Heidi’s Jackathon tour, also features Amsterdam-based Boris Werner, local trailblazers Bells & Whistles and Adnan. In the Oddjob Loft there’s Mozaic, MossMoss and Honey Soundsystem. A top-notch night for what should be a marathon night, like all the AYLIs in the past.
For the best part of the last decade Heidi has been plying her trade as a first-class deck technician. She hails from Windsor, Ontario, the same town that gave us Richie Hawtin and a Canadian city that is close enough to Detroit to absorb that city’s abstract form of funk. Though she came up as an Indie rock girl it wasn’t long before she caught the house and techno bug and a trip to the UK in ’97 reinforced this. In 2000 she moved there permanently and by 2003 was working at taste making London vinyl emporium, Phonica Records.
In 2004 she crossed paths with Patrick Bodmer and Phillip Jung, otherwise known as German electro house groovers and shakers, M.A.N.D.Y. They became the best of friends and began djing together in Berlin and then all over Europe. In 2006 she and partner Riton released their first cut, “Vejer” on the Get Physical Music label that is partly run by M.A.N.D.Y. By 2007 she was holding down residencies in Berlin and Ibiza and djing all over the world. Heidi and Riton are readying a full length for Get Physical while she continues to traverse the world, bringing her Jackathons to whomever wishes to jack.
Amsterdam dweller Boris Werner is also no stranger to European dj circuits and releases on quality labels. Werner (real name Boris Van Zuilen) has played high profile European clubs and events such as, Studio 80, Rex, Voltt, 5 days Off, Tenax, Panoramabar, T/bar, Awakenings, Welcome To The Future, Sonne Mond und Sterne, WMC, Sonar and ADE. He now has his own night, Late Night Society at Amsterdam’s excellent club, Trouw and has a slew of releases and remixes out on prolific labels such as, Rush Hour, Moon Harbour, Remote Area and Cocoon.
So forget that invention you were gonna be patenting, that mountain you were gonna be climbing, that helicopter you were gonna be piloting or that hair you were gonna be washing and get your posterior to jackathoning on the floor at the Works. You know you want to, we know you want to, As You Like It knows you’d like to. So why don’t you?
