There once was a time when a DJ was an archaeologist of sorts. Unearthing hidden artifacts and sharing their stories, shedding light onto our past, enriching our present and informing our future. It was not uncommon to see DJs spin for 5 – 7 hours. In this day of big epic drops and EDM, it seems a bit of that storytelling has gone away. We concern ourselves without the next big thing, and often forget about the music and artists that shaped our musical persona. Clockworks, a new event by and at Public Works aims to bring that archaeologist aesthetic back into the foreground of electronic music. Peter Hudson: ETERNAL RETURN
This is Peter’s most ambitious stroboscopic zoetrope to date! Hudzo began work this spring and will be working through the summer of 2014 to bring this new piece to Burning Man. Proceeds from Two Live Crews will support his design team and construction efforts to create a unique and original zoetrope which has never been brought to life in this form.
Somehow, when we listen to Acid Pauli, we feel like we are being taken on a field trip to mysterious places by the quirky-but-cool high school science teacher we all wish we had. With an undeniably genius ear for music, flawless programming and mixing skills, and a whole vibe that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a quirky anthropologist’s living room, with stacks of notes, arcane artifacts, and undying love for new, strange things.
