There once was a time when a DJ was an archaeologist of sorts. Unearthing hidden artifacts and sharing their stories, shedding light onto our past, enriching our present and informing our future. It was not uncommon to see DJs spin for 5 – 7 hours. In this day of big epic drops and EDM, it seems a bit of that storytelling has gone away. We concern ourselves without the next big thing, and often forget about the music and artists that shaped our musical persona. Clockworks, a new event by and at Public Works aims to bring that archaeologist aesthetic back into the foreground of electronic music. For the event launch, House music legend DOC MARTIN will play a FIVE HOUR JOURNEY of music he grew up on into his current bumpin favorites. Starting with Motown, 70s, Funk, 80’s, hip hop, early electro, rave classics, 90s Jamz, breaks and into current house, techno and favorites. So often, DJs get stuck in the rut of having to play what’s hot .Clockworks will be bringing out your favorite DJS to have them TELL THEIR STORY and play the music they grew up on and inspired them to do what they do. Come and join us in the loft at Public Works for this special, intimate show.
