ABOUT GUILLAUME & THE COUTU DUMONTS:
Ever an energetic actor in the electronic music scene, Montreal based artist Guillaume Coutu Dumont maintains numerous collaborative projects, performing regularly in his hometown and around the world. Driven by his passion for hybrid forms of musical expression, Guillaume continues on his quest for the ultimate ham bone funk recipe with his solo project: Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts a special blend of funk, house, techno, gospel, swing and afro-beat. His first album FACE À L’EST was released on Musique risqué in 2007. So far, his solo outputs are available on Mutek_rec, Musique Risquée, Hartchef Discos, Floppy Funk, OSLO, Raum Musik and on French labels Circus company and Karat.
Influenced as much by concrete music as by techno, which he discovered one night in the midst of a lightning storm, Guillaume founded Egg (Mutek_rec, Karat, Floppy Funk), Luci (Mutek_rec, Morris Audio), Chic Miniature (Raummusik, Musique Risquée), Flabbergast (Mutek_rec), as well as the artistic collective Racam. He has toured with one or another of these projects in north/south America, Europe and Asia. Since january 2007, Guillaume has reached European soil. Like many other, he chose Berlin as his new homebase. Traveling all around the block, he is always looking to get the dance floors grinning with guilty pleasure. SHAKE THAT ASS!
Subb-an’s rapid rise to prominence as a DJ, producer and one of the most exiting new British live acts of recent years is testament to his hard work, natural talent and wholehearted commitment to electronic music. This success hasn’t been earned overnight. At just 23 years old, Ashique ‘Subb-an’ Subhan has done much more in his career in dance music than many artists twice his age. In 2005, Subb-an landed a residency at Below, one of the UK’s most cherished underground clubbing institutions. Over the last six years Below has seen the likes of Sven Vath, Loco Dice, Dinky, Jamie Jones and Sebo K headlining sold out parties that continue to draw crowds of clued-clubbers from all over the UK.
Subb-an’s discography reads like a ‘Who’s Who’ of underground house and techno’s biggest labels with his forthcoming release on Crosstown Rebels, Spectral and Culprit backed up by past hits on Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations, Mothership, Leftroom, BPitch Control, 2020 Vision, Trapez Ltd. In 2009, Subb-an and Adam Shelton set up their own ‘One Records’ label as a platform for their own productions alongside tracks from other respected artists. Building on his long standing residency at Below, Subb-an has gone on to play at The Weekend Club (Berlin), 2010’s Glastonbury Festival, The Electric Pickle (Miami), The Harry Klein (Munich), Hot Natured at Sonar (Barcelona), The Garden Festival (Croatia), Lo*Kee (London), and at The Warehouse Project (Manchester).
