With studio space at a premium here in San Francisco, four artist residents will be afforded, at no cost, a daytime work shop that transforms into a community room available free of charge to neighborhood groups and other benevolent organizations.
We encourage the growth of art and creativity in the Mission and San Francisco as a whole and are intent to provide a forum and a physical space for both.
Betty Bigas is the Rollup Gallery Curator. She is a video artist, photographer and graphic designer from Barcelona.
New upcoming artist:
Although born in Barcelona where she now lives, Joana Santamans grew up in the shadow of Montserrat Mountain, Esparreguera, and is closely connected to the countryside Hostalets Pierola of the region of Anoia. This combination of a cosmopolitan city with her great experiences close to nature, is always a constant presence in her work of art.
She studied Art and Design at Eina School in Barcelona, that was later enriched by visits to London and New York. She worked in several graphic design studios in her city until she established her own. She has completed numerous commissions and corporate websites with great rigor and a strong typographical exigency that has placed her at the doors of a freer creation.
This attitude has led her to develop promising works of art ranging from painting murals, graffiti and illustrations, to painting on all kinds of support, especially found objects. She loves teamwork.
